Well folks, we're going to give it a go! We will reopen on Monday, April 27. We closed on March 25, (almost a week before the governor's executive order) to honor the community need for social distancing and limited contact. Early on I petitioned, and quickly received, permission from the state of NC to operate as an essential business. But it is only now that I feel that it is reasonable to do. As we very carefully go forward, there will be some important changes in the way we operate that you need to know about:
* Curbside pickup and delivery of your animal will be our policy for the foreseeable future. Our front door will be locked. Please stay in your car when you arrive and blow the horn if no one comes out right away.
* If your pet needs to be walked before coming in, please wait until you are done before alerting us that you are here. Always maintain proper social distance between you and any other customer or staff.
* Please remove any "gear" from your pet (collar, harness, leash, shirt/sweater) and place him or her in the seat beside you or in the back seat of your car. If in a carrier, we will remove your pet. Please resist the urge to help unless asked.
* Nail trims will need to be done by appointment for the foreseeable future.
* Please be patient. Everything will take longer now because of the safety steps we will implement. We will give you an estimate on how long it will take at time of drop off.
* If you have experienced COVID-19 symptoms, have had a fever, or have been around anyone with symptoms or fever in the previous 72 hours, PLEASE do not come to your appointment. We will reschedule for a time that is safe for all of us.
This will be a group effort, y'all. I appreciate your support and cooperation at this bizarre time. We will learn to adapt and thrive just like we always do! Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

The first is a conversation about safety protocols with Dr. Shelley Lenz, DVM, PhD and 2020 candidate for Governor of North Dakota.
The second and third are instructional videos she uses with her veterinary clients to show them how they will transport dogs and cats safely from their cars into the clinic.
