I'm Katherine Taaffe and I've been a pet groomer since 2010, but I've worked with animals for the better part of the last 35 years.  I'm convinced that armed with the information I want to share, many people can do this kind of work at home.  Whether it's full independence from a professional groomer you're looking for or just an understanding of what you can do at home to keep your pet in good shape between grooms, my tips and instruction will help you get there!

Packages Consist of Three (3) One-Hour Sessions

Solo/Private instruction - $450
Group instruction with up to two other students - $300

*If needed or desired, private follow-up sessions are available @ $100/hour (half hour minimum required)
*10% Discount for Dog Park members (minimum 2-month membership required)

Session #1 -

• Overview of the approach, techniques, and tools we will use
• Discussion of how to set up a safe and productive workspace in your home
• Introduction to and practice with "Give and Take" style of restraint

Session #2 - 

• Bath preparation - brushing, combing, mat removal, ear hair removal
• Bathing - Safety practices, shampoos & conditioners, ear cleaning, anal gland expression
• Drying techniques and detangler use

Session #3 - 

• Hair cutting and styling using clippers and scissors
• Sanitary trim
• Foot pad trim
• Nail care - introduction to clipping and grinding techniques

*A maximum of 2 handlers per pet may attend.
*All dogs must have proof of vaccination for Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella
